Our new Oliver camper came with most of the upgrades that I wanted, like the solar system and instant hot water heater, however there are still things that need to be upgraded.  Mostly, the camper needs lithium batteries.  We know how we like to travel and that always includes being offgrid for extended periods of time.  Luckily the camper came with 340 watts of solar panels already installed, but the controller was old and inefficient.  While we were in florida I snagged the “spare” off of the boat for us to install in the camper!

This is why we can’t have nice things.
This controller is larger, but better in pretty much every way.
Found this little hanging thing to cover the hole.

Now that the solar situation is taken care of, time to upgrade the batteries.  They come on this nice pull out shelf but there are wires everywhere and no place to actually mount equipment.  We decided to install bus bars to clean up the wiring a bit instead of having everything on the battery terminals.  Then we mounted the bus bars, fuses, and other stuff to a board that goes on top of the batteries. It’s a really tight fit in there, but it’ll work!

two of the four old 6v batteries. gross.
That simplifies things
The final product!

Now, I’m posting this after we just got back from a nearly month long road trip where most of our camping was at unimproved campgrounds with no hookups I have to say that everything worked awesome! We only had a day or two when we were under enough clouds and trees for the batteries to be near 50% discharge.  I’m very pleased with how the camper worked!
