After fueling up the boat at Highbourne Cay Marina we anchored in about 10′ of water next to a white sandy beach. The marina is known mostly for its resident nurse sharks that hang out in the shallow entrance and get fed by tourists. Unfortunately, we didn’t spend much time in the marina or with the sharks because it was a private island and they were very stringent about their rules!
After swimming around for a while, we were all lounging about on the boat when someone noticed a shark swimming around! I was too scared to get in the water with the sharks in Tahiti, so this was my second chance! I put my camera in the housing and put my swimsuit back on and slowly eased into the water. The shark swam under me to see what I was, but hightailed it out of there pretty fast! It didn’t come back around for a second look, but I managed to get a few photos of it and now I can say I swam with sharks!
Since I was already in the water and waiting to see if the shark would come back, I took some split shots of the boat (and the dinghy…and the paddleboards…)
