Jason and I didn’t spend much time at home before hooking up the camper and heading back out again! This time we’re going out west, starting in Moab, Utah.  It’s a pretty long drive so we spent the night at a campground just outside Salida, CO right on the Arkansas river.

Happy campers

River was clear but cold!

The next day we rolled into Moab and parked at the Sun Outdoors North campground.  It was a fantastic spot with the nicest campground bathrooms and showers I’ve ever seen! Jason and I haven’t been to Moab since 2014 and I was amazed that aside from a few more hotels and a food truck park, the city hasn’t really changed that much.

Since it’s Moab and Moab is iconic, we obviously brought our mountain bikes with us and did a small ride outside town.  The trail wasn’t technically challenging, but the elevation here in Moab was humbling. It took me a while to get used to the rocks out here on the trails.  It’s very different terrain than Arkansas!

This is steeper than it looks and I rode it so I made Jason take a picture.

Our friends Victoria and Deb are flying in as well.  Victoria arrived first so to kill some time before heading back to the airport to get Deb, we explored Dead Horse Point State Park.

After acquiring Deb we stopped by this “magical” spring off the side of the road to fill our water bottles.

We all came to Moab because we’re heading out tomorrow on a 4 day canoeing trip down the Green River!  Time to set up camp, pack our stuff, and get some sleep!
