There’s not a whole lot to do at the campground other than paddle and sit in the camper and sitting in the camper isn’t very interesting without cell service, so we drove back into town.  We made a short detour to check out one of the small lakes that we drove past yesterday.  It was full of lily pads and I think we’re going to come back and paddle it later!

I really like all the birch trees
Super pretty!

I think this is called fire weed
This grass just looked so lush and soft.

Lake Superior is known for its agates so of course we stopped and walked the shoreline looking for rocks! I found *so many* but lost feeling in my feet due to the ice cold water.  It was worth it.  Jason found me a few nice rocks and then started skipping them across the calm water.  I’m still amazed at how gigantic Lake Superior is.  Like, I knew in theory that it was a huge lake… but it looks like the ocean.

More crystal clear water. Makes it easier to find rocks.
Jason skipping rocks

It really does look like the ocean!

Back in Grand Marais we grabbed some lunch and then wandered around until we found the North House Folk School.  They have artists teaching and creating their various traditional crafts. We got to see a blacksmith making traditional rock climbing equipment out of steel and then went inside to see artisans making bows and wood strip canoes!

More boats

Just thought this was a pretty building
