Somehow not much got done today despite our best intentions. (isn’t this always the case?) My major success this morning was installing 4 little cleats in the chain locker and hanging almost all of our unused lines from them. So not only do we now have a spot for all of the lines (no longer in our closet!), but they’re not laying in a pile on the floor getting wet and moldy!
The other day while cleaning I found a long board with screws in it. That seems to be a theme with this boat.. just having things removed for no reason. I finally figured out what it was though! The trim piece on the end of the starboard settee! The screws had been pulled out of the wood, so I had to pry the teak bungs out of the wood to remove the screws. Fun life hack of the day: if you’re trying to screw into stripped wood and it’s too loose, break off a toothpick inside the hole and try again. The toothpick will fill the gap and give the screw just enough to bite into to work!
That’s pretty much all I did today that I took pictures of. The sun came out and started to bake us alive inside the boat so we bailed and drove up to the workshop where our arch is getting made to pick up our dinghy. They needed it to mock up the hoist, but since they’re done, we took it back. We got to use our spare halyard on the mast again to pick heavy things up and set them on top of the boat! This time we ran the line to the main winch in the cockpit which is easily 10x as badass as the one on the mast that doesn’t work very well.
Now our fancy dinghy is deflated and sitting on the deck until the arch is installed and we can hang it off the back!
We removed our shade tarps to start buttoning the boat up for when we leave on our road trip. Now that the outboard motor won’t be covered sitting up on deck, we wrestled it inside the boat and it’s now safely sitting on the floor of the master bedroom where I absolutely won’t kick it on accident! 😉
