Every once in a while a blind squirrel finds a nut.
Jason’s a very lucky squirrel! On our last dive, I wasn’t feeling so awesome so instead of diving I went to drink coffee and chill while Jason took my camera on a dive of Coco View wall. He was just swimming along and saw a green moray eel slithering along on the bottom. It then decided that Jason looked like an interesting fellow and swam over to check him out. Then another eel got curious about him and did the same. So here Jason is with a moray eel touching its snout to the front of my camera and being super interesting and I’m topside with a coffee. Why do critters not think *I* am interesting and gift me with fantastic photo opportunities?! I guess, one way or the other, we got the shot. And frankly I find the eels kind of terrifying. Jason tells me they don’t bite, they just like to open their mouths like that, but I’m still not convinced. If the eels do it to try to dissuade predators, it works! Either way, he had a once in a lifetime wildlife encounter and an interesting story to tell over dinner.
