For those of you who have seen my truck built out of old, scavenged parts first hand, my penchant for old rusting hulks underwater should come as no surprise. I love wrecks of any kind. Today’s dive was to the Mr. Bud, a 90′ sunken fishing boat. One interesting thing about this particular wreck is that during a hurricane a few years ago, one of the large liveaboard dive boats was tied to the wreck, but the strong winds pulled the boat and Mr. Bud quite a ways. The bow is now shoved firmly into a small rise before the drop off of an extremely deep wall. Glad she survived! For today’s dive, my trusty Sony was outfitted with the 16-36mm wide angle lens and super intimidating looking front dome port. I had a blast shooting the wreck, obviously, and then playing with angles and interesting foreground shots of the other divers. It’s a different perspective than the macro lens I was using. Unfortunately, towards the end of the dive I started getting a pretty gnarly headache, so I decided to skip the second drop off dive and let Jason play with my camera for a while. I spent a few hours working on photos and drinking coffee on the screened porch looking at the tropical water. Luckily the coffee worked its magic and I was feeling much better by lunchtime! 😉
