I know I’ve told you guys about my fancy new dive housing already and you’re probably wondering where all my sweet underwater fish photos are? Well… I finally found some little reefs and fish in the lagoon on Diego Garcia.  Lets just say there is a lot of troubleshooting I need to do to really perfect this whole setup.  For starters I have a killer set of tinted freediving goggles… which meant that I couldn’t see the screen at all to set up my shots.  I was literally just pointing the camera at stuff and hoping that I got something.  I also had no idea how to set up the exposure since it was bright at the surface but got dark very quickly.  Overall, I don’t think I liked what “full auto” did with the photos any more than what I did when I screwed them up on my own. The water wasn’t nearly as clear as I thought it was going to be.  I realize this is just me whining, but still.  It was hazy down there so by the time I got my camera haphazardly pointed at a fish and close enough for it to work, the darn thing would swim off.  I did get some lovely photos of coral. 😉 I’m planning on playing with this a lot more on my next trip up north to Canada in our boat. Practice makes better. 😉
