I already made a post about our dive on the fishing boat Mr. Bud, but that wasn’t the only wreck that we got to explore on this trip!  One of Coco View Resort’s attractions is the wreck located right outside their front doors: the Prince Albert.  She is a 140′ ex-Navy gasoline tanker intentionally sunk in 1985.  Mostly reduced to crusty steel held together by tetanus, she is covered in sea life now and is pretty darn interesting to explore.  Every level has different critters living on it.  I didn’t go inside because I’m not qualified to do that and it honestly looks shady as hell.  Since I’m kind of a nerd I really enjoyed looking at the piping and valves exposed on the deck.  We even saw another moray eel hanging out by one of the mooring cleats.

As a huge added bonus to the wreck of the Prince Albert there is also a crashed DC-3 airplane just a little ways away.  I can’t really find any information online about the plane itself, only that it crashed at the airport and everyone survived.  Maybe they sunk it on purpose or maybe not.  Either way, it will now be the third airplane wreck that I’ve explored and that might become my new “thing”.  Why geocache for trinkets when you can find entire aircraft? Or maybe, again, I’m a huge nerd. The visibility was pretty terrible the day we went and the current was really ripping by, so I’m a bit disappointed with the photos I got.  It’s still cool though.

The above is a photo of the other DC-3 that I took on a beach in Iceland.  That one is in WAY better shape.
