Jones island is my favorite island in the San Juans. The hiking trails wind along the cliffs and through mossy forests overlooking the water, the beach is packed with interesting rocks to sift through, and there’s a convenient dock for the boat. However, it is a bittersweet place because every time we end up here, we’re on our way home. Such is the case today as well. We decided that we’ve seen the San Juans and we want to go scuba diving and hang out at home at little bit before we have to go back to work, so tomorrow we head home. 🙁 At any rate, we have one more day to enjoy and there’s no use sitting around whining about it! I feel I should give Jason some props here for the way he parked the boat at the dock. The tide was super low so I was out back looking for rocks to not hit and Jason decides that he wants the bow of the boat facing out so he just spins it around and drifts right into the dock all slow and perfect. The move was seriously straight out of the movie Captain Ron and it impressed the hell out of the little group of kayakers watching in detached amusement from the shore. 😉 At any rate, I found a ton of rocks to put in my rock tumbler and we went for a little hike! An absolutely perfect day!
