Today at Shroud Cay was the first time the wind has calmed down enough for us to finally use our canoe to go exploring! Because Jason cant sit in a kayak and we don’t have room for real boats on the railing like we had on our catamaran, we ended up with an inflatable tandem canoe. It’s a pain in the ass up on deck to move around but once in the water it paddles surprisingly well ever for the boat-snob that is Jason! Lol. Since we have the boat anchored on the south end of Shroud we decided to take it out for the morning and explore the mangrove river on this side of the island. It’s not the most popular one and we didn’t see any other boats all day!
This particular river ends up at a low spot in the island with an easy path across the island to the beach on the ocean side. We dragged the canoe up into the sand and went on a little hike.
We finally made it back to the canoe and sat in it and ate our lunch sandwiches.
After making it back to the boat we took the dinghy out to scope out some new anchoring spots and on the way back stopped by a little sand bar. I found a pretty nice shell and got some pictures that I’ll probably try to paint later.
