The light winds we enjoyed at Tilloo Cay didn’t last so we continued further south to a protected little cove on Lynard Cay. The winds were predicted to be southeast to south so this spot should be just fine for the night! We anchored in about 5’ of water and then used the dinghy to scout out the rest of the anchorage and ended up moving the boat twice as close to shore for even more protection from the wind.
Remember that branch of coconut we got hiking in Hope Town? We put 2 of them in the fridge just to make pineapple coconut rum drinks.
Fun thing about coconut: they have water inside and will freeze. So when you go to cut them they can, and will, spray your face with sticky coconut water. Gross. I needed a shower anyway I suppose.
We slept peacefully until about 1 in the morning when a little storm rolled through and changed the wind direction to southwest at almost 30 knots! That wasn’t predicted at all so our previously peaceful little spot started rocking and rolling with the wind. It’s also pitch black outside so even if we were dragging our anchor we wouldn’t have been able to tell. I sat up and fretted over it until the wind calmed back down and I finally went back to bed. That’s boat life for ya…
