… and now for the next entry in my ill-fated photo challenge: Someone you love!  I may have bitten off more than I can chew with this one by choosing the elusive Jason as my subject.  While the cats (my second choice) are just hard to get photos of because one is black and hard to dial in the light metering and the other has been on the blog enough to be a boring cop-out, Jason has an innate hatred of every single photo of him ever taken.  So my challenge this week was to not only take photos of him that are allowed onto the blog at all, but to do it without actually showing any of him. Wait, what? That’s why it’s a “photo challenge” not a “photo easy”.

High key portrait of him in his motorcycle helmet. This came out OK, but not quite what I had in mind. I forgot that the helmet is also white. The self portrait I did in high key was taken against the patio door that had condensation inside the glass, effectively making it a fullsize light box. Unfortunately (?) we "fixed" it and I lost my perfect little backdrop. Home improvement is stupid.

Action shot that magically came out awesome of Jason driving our Mini to Gig Harbor last week. We hit a bump in the road and got just enough motion blur to make it totally cool looking. Every once in a while a blind squirrel finds a nut.

I do have a few more ideas for pictures of Jason that don’t show Jason at all, but unfortunately photography is a hobby and not my job, so I have to actually go to work and continue living my life as normal.  That and getting Jason to pose for photos is like trying to nail Jello to a tree.

…but that doesn’t mean I don’t drag my poor camera with me wherever we go.  This is from our trip to Poulsbo to go to a used boat parts store. (for some reason I didn’t bring it inside? I will next time, that place was fascinating even if it did smell like dog pee.  Notice to shop owners: if you’re going to have a shop and you’re going to have dogs, at least make it to where they don’t piss all over the merchandise? Kthx)

Metal sculptures of Salmon on a building. Liked the implied action.

More fun with filters. Boring photo of a leaf, but I liked the vertical lines.

Good lighting on a fun garden decoration made out of scrap metal and an old valve handwheel.

So many layers of paint. I wonder how old the original layer is?

My favorite of the bunch. Old staples and nails on a telephone pole.

Ha, ha! The ultimate challenge: Taking photos of someone who doesn’t want his photo taken!
