One thing on our list while in this area of Michigan was a trip up to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.  I had seen so many pictures of the rock formations, tide pools, and crystal clear water that I had to go myself!  Unfortunately we forgot that it was saturday so the entire area was packed with people and we couldn’t really see anything without fighting the roving hordes to get to it.  Eventually we just kind of gave up and decided to try again during the week.  The area is truly amazing though.  I was completely surprised by the water that was almost as clear and bright as the water in the Bahamas! Next time we’re up this way we’re definitely going to try and go kayak it!

I didn’t expect sandy beaches either

Lots of warnings about what kayaks are safe and what aren’t.
look at that water!

Since the rocks were kind of a bust we headed back into town and went to the coffee shop that’s also an art gallery.

I loved their bright blue ceiling
Wall of vintage radios because why not?

We ended up back at the camper and took the canoe on a paddle of the lake to look at the lily pads.

The water is super clear here too!
Not a bad view!
