Well it can’t just be all fun and games and snorkeling, can it?! When we bought True North she had been parked outside in the Florida sun for a few years. She was overall in good shape but she needed to be cleaned up and detailed pretty badly. I’ve been slowly buffing, waxing, and polishing her into submission. After years of detailing cars for fun that’s been a straightforward task, but the one thing that bugged me on this boat was the white rubber trim with mildew and mold stains all over it. It looked gross and made the whole boat look terrible. After some trial and error, my ideal solution ended up being some liquid barkeepers friend, a scotch brite pad, and a finishing coat of UV repelling spray.

The white trim on the back is noticeable every time you get on and off the boat, but she also had a ring of trim around the very top. That was harder to do because I didn’t want to get the cleaning stuff everywhere but I also don’t have enough water to just wash the boat off when I’m done, so I was just putting it off. Until one day where heavy rain was in the forecast. Once I saw those big gray clouds rolling in, I got to work! Mother Nature rinsed the boat for me and now she looks amazing!

Oh yeah!
The rest of the boat got washed off also!

Moving is always hard and it’s even harder when you move 4 people onto one boat.  No one agrees on where stuff goes and it’s hard to get it all sorted.  Finally, though, I’ve found a home for almost everything and she’s starting to look like an organized and clean home instead of like a tornado went through it!

My “junk bucket” is gone!
The saloon looks so clean now! Go me!

I’ve also been using my leftover Griots Garage high end leather cleaner on the white panels and settee cushions on the boat. It works so well and smells great! I’m really happy with how it’s all turning out!
