No trip to southeast Oregon is complete without a stop at the Fields Station (in Fields…).  They have legendary milkshakes and usually we’re around late enough to have a burger, but this time we broke up our camp in the Steens and got there for breakfast! They have breakfast burritos now and I was warned that they were “a little small”.  I’m not sure by whose standard, but these burritos were monsters! Jason and I each only finished half of ours and kept the rest for lunch! 😮 We also *had* to split a milkshake! Every time we visit I buy a mug (mostly to support the station…) and this year they were ORANGE!

My shiny new mug!
the paint looks nice, but it hasn’t grown much since we first starting coming here!

After our delicious breakfast Jason and I kept heading south until a little side road caught our eye and we decided to actually take the time to go explore it!  We ended up somewhere in the Pueblo Mountains overlooking the valley behind Fields and found a little mountain stream.  We were a little worried about the tall grass catching fire on the hot stuff under the car so we headed back to the main road after a slightly precarious turn around on the side of a big hill!

Not too bad for a random side road adventure!
