Between our regular day off work and Labor Day, we had 4 days in a row off of work. So where to go? Why not Bend, Oregon again. I know it seems like we go there a lot, but even with 3 whole days to play, we managed to fill them with completely new things! We all bailed on work a few hours early on Thursday to hit the road and try to miss a little bit of the holiday weekend traffic. Jessica brough a “random thought provoking questions” game so by the time we were all tired of sitting in the car and ready to camp we had made it pretty car down into Oregon. Our resting spot for the night was Pelton Park, just north of Lake Simtustus. We drove by the Pelton Dam on the way there. It would have been a neat place to check out if we’d gotten there earlier and had time.
We dawdled around long enough for me to get some sunrise pictures and for a few people to take showers, then we all piled back into the truck and headed towards Redmond for coffee and breakfast at the One Street Down Cafe, which is always amazing. We reached Bend around lunchtime, checked into the hotel, unloaded all our crap and then headed out to Phil’s mountain bike trails to play around on the pump track and jumps.
Amazing showers were had by all and then we headed out to the Old Mill District for some dinner and meandering.
Action packed first day of vacation! We all slept soundly!
