I know I haven’t posted any updates in a few days about the custom hardtop that we’re making for our dodger!  Don’t worry, we *have* been working on it!  Jason has been busting his ass sanding the thing in between us adding layers of epoxy filler. (I’ve been painting the railing, so don’t feel too bad for Jason) 😉

This is the first layer of epoxy and sandable filler

After applying and sanding smooth the first coat of sandable filler on both sides of the top, we decided that it just wasn’t quite smooth enough and it needed a little more filling and sanding.  West Marine was out of the filler we used (the pink stuff), so we got an even more sandable fill material.  It’s essentially marine grade bondo.  Went on smooth and sanded nicely!

After a few more sanding sessions it’s finally ready for primer! 🙂

That white is BRIGHT when the sun is out! 😮

We would be done with it already if it wasn’t for drying time! The primer takes 4 hours to dry and with the regular afternoon thunderstorms we’ve only been able to do one coat per day so far.
