We ended up going back to the boat last night after dinner to get the foam for the new dodger cut to shape in the hopes that we could lay up fiberglass the next morning while it was still cool! I think arguing about the shapes and lines took way more time than it did to actually glue the foam together and toss it on the boat! In the end, we followed the curve of the dodger frame for the front edge, set a radius on all 4 corners (larger in front than back), and… left the back edge alone.  The back edge extends past the existing bars by like 7″.  We had originally planned on trimming this to like an inch, but while sitting in the cockpit we decided that we liked the overhang.  It’ll be nice if you’re sitting outside in the rain.

We aren’t just going to leave the 1/2″ foam and glass over it, because it obviously doesn’t look very good like it sits!  There will be a thick lip around the front 3 edges and a small “duckbill” type spoiler on the back edge.  That will give the whole top some more strength and a bunch of style points! We will get to that tomorrow!

Back under the cover!

The perimeter shape is now set and it’s under the rain cover for the night.  For being free and falling apart, that cover sure is getting a ton of use!
