I really enjoyed playing with my new paddleboard at Black Creek a few days ago and couldn’t wait to get back out on the water! However…. I’m still not sold on the stand up paddleboard thing… I miss my kayak! So… I just bought a kayak paddle for the paddleboard! I also tricked it out even more with a sweet cooler for snacks and drinks!

This thing is decked out!

My plan was to sit on top of the cooler and paddle, but my new paddle was so short it just didn’t work. I also felt super awkward sitting on top like that, so I ended up sitting down on the board itself and using the cooler as a backrest! This is the life!

We started our trip at a different boat ramp than last time and went even further north.  I like this part of the creek better as there are less speedboats towing tubes and jet skis.  It’s more quaint and lined with very interesting beach houses up on stilts! There are a few manatee signs, so maybe someday we will see manatees here!

The water is pretty clear

We were out for almost an hour so when we decided to turn around and head back we dug our sodas out of the cooler and floated down the river with the boards rafted together.  It was fantastically relaxing! I’ve never been floating on a river, I think I’d enjoy it!

Best buddies!

Almost back to the ramp

This was a really nice paddle in the warm sunshine and good way to spend a few hours on the water after a morning of working on the boat! I like my new ghetto-kayak setup! Next time I want to paddle longer and bring a lunch and treats!
