I really love photo walks! Especially photo walks in locations that aren’t exotic or particularly beautiful.  Today Katie and I hit up downtown Bremerton where we both work.  Katie even lives here and hasn’t really given the area a second glance.  Part of the challenge is being able to find things of interest while surrounded by the mundane.  I didn’t take a lot of photos today because we were chatting so much, but I did take a few, mostly to prove a point or to show alternate ways to compose a scene.

Using the white sky to isolate part of the “fishing for men” statue
Using the curbs to create shapes in the background and add interest to the yellow leaf as the subject
Hidden maple tree in an alley I’ve never seen before
Colorful red and yellow tree against a white building
Katie asked how I would shoot this fire hydrant. I chose a top view for the shape and put a red leaf on top of blue and yellow
Colors on a brick wall
More colors on a wall. I love walls.
Sprinkles of pink paint look like a wildfire. Making something out of nothing.
I’ve always loved this run of conduit around this window in town
More nothing: this is a dented car hood.
eliminating the boring sky from this photo makes it better and shows the subject against the colorful buildings instead.
Shooting through a maple tree to the statue by the marina. A little framing adds interest to an otherwise boring scene.
Quick out of focus shot of a feather with water drops on it. I should have taken a second shot of this!
I included some of the marina behind the statue to give context. He’s a sailor and he’s by the boats.
