We have family in town again so we decided to take them to the trail we always choose when there’s not enough time to do a full loop of the Olympic peninsula: the staircase rapids loop trail. The trailhead starts at the end of Lake Cushman and winds through big cedar trees along the river, over a large suspension bridge and down the other side. There weren’t any flowers this time of year, but everything was coated in a thick layer of moss making it look even more like a rainforest than usual. Never had a bad hike out here.
