One of the places on our list to visit on this trip was the Hoh Rainforest.  We’ve been here twice but it’s an amazing spot.  Unfortunately even at 9:00 on a monday morning the parking lot was already full and they had switched to metered entry at the ranger station.  There was going to be a 2 hour wait and there were 30 cars ahead of us.  We knew the park would be busy but didn’t expect that level of humanity descending on it.   Instead of waiting to walk in a single file line to see some trees we turned around and found a different trail to hike: the Bogachiel River Trail.  The trail parallels the main trail in the Hoh, but is on the other side of the river.  It also keeps going into the interior of the park, but we chose to only do about 7 miles of it.  As expected, the ginormous trees were covered in moss and ferns littered the ground beneath them.  We didn’t see any other people until we were about a mile from the car on our way back!
