Aside from the cute historical buildings, lime kiln, and awesome marina, Roche Harbor is also home to a gigantic sculpture park.  It’s a short walk away from the marina and the artsy fartsy vibe they’re going for really matches the upscale marina set they’re catering to.  I’m glad they let us ruffians in!  We visit the park every time we’re here and the art does rotate around.  Jason and I mostly enjoy comparing the outrageous prices on everything with how easily we could make it in our garage.  Some things are just stupid and stupidly overpriced, but there were a few pieces that would look pretty darn cool in the garden! Just like with paper based art, the more technical skill it took to create, the more impressed I am with it.  Either way, here are some photos.  If you ever find yourself in Roche Harbor it’s definitely worth the walk over to check it out.

Daffodils in full bloom
Salmon against wood wall
Wizard battle! I’m still not sure what the point of this was.
kinetic sculpture
This was my favorite

This was brand new. I’m pretty sure it’s an orca

Prayer jar. It spins!

The horse was also new.
These are really nicely done and elegant.
Another kinetic sculpture

This one’s been here for a long time. It’s starting to look worn.
It’s full of tools and car parts etc.
Field of art

Another one of my favorites. Giant lanterns!
This used to be out in the trees, now it’s in the field
DSLR selfies are hard, even with a mirror
I thought this looked like DNA
Mud flats
Path
These plants are neat looking.

Glass bottles. I’m not sure why, but they did make me laugh.
Dragon
Face
Neat gate, but super easy to walk around
Sharp edges. Not for children! lol

Bird made from household scrap. The price was in the thousands of dollars range. Ridiculous.
Ponies are the devil.
Alligator. (or crocodile. I can’t tell)
Totem pole
I’d buy this. A nice useful bench with a book and coffee cup!

Good to know
Nice gate

For some reason this slow meander through the woods and field always makes us way more tired than is really reasonable. Maybe because of all the standing? Either way, we made our way back down to the boat for a few hours of relaxation (and a coffee).  I made Jason take me back ashore later so I could poach the marina wifi to make some more blog posts.  Unfortunately I forgot that the little café closes at 3 (it was 5) so I didn’t get my bonus latte-coffee shop-couch-wifi time.  I got to sit outside in the glorious warm sunshine instead. 🙂
