One of our vacations this year is an Alaskan cruise with Jason’s family. We’ve been meaning to make it up to Alaska for a while but as it turns out, it’s a lot further than it looks on than the maps. Either way, the available flights up to Anchorage didn’t arrive soon enough on Friday morning, so we had to leave the day before. If you’re going to take off a few hours of work, you might as well take the whole day, so we left our house at like 3 in the morning for our 6 AM flight, checked into our hotel, and spent the rest of the day wandering around Anchorage. Anchorage is the largest city in Alaska (Wikipedia reports around 290,000 people) however I think they count all of the surrounding areas as well because the city center didn’t feel very large. There was a smattering of large office buildings but it lacked the rushed feeling of somewhere like Seattle. Pretty neat place and a much better way to spend the day than at work! 😉
