Located just outside Redding, CA was the first stop of our epic October road trip: Lassen Volcanic National Park.  We didn’t plan on going here, just like we hadn’t initially planned to do our trip starting in this direction at all.  We should have done a quick search before leaving town because almost as soon as we exited the Redding city limits, it started to snow.

It was beautiful, but unlucky for us, the road through the park that we wanted to take was closed because of the snow (apparently it’s a high mountain pass… so that’s fair, however unfortunate).  The decision was made to head towards Yosemite.  Luckily HWY 89 would take us pretty much directly there!
