I forget how I even got it, (maybe I stole it from mom…) but I had a little orchid and kept it alive for over 2 years! I was pretty pleased with myself for not murdering my finicky little flower friend even though everything else I’ve ever tried to keep alive has died pretty quickly. (This includes air plants. Supposedly unkillable. )  This isn’t a terribly relevant story except to lead in to my next comment about how Singapore has SO MANY orchids. They’re everywhere. Seriously, they’re like weeds here.  Even my hotel room smells like orchids! (don’t get me wrong here, this is awesome. I’ve stayed in much smellier places).  So while meandering around Sentosa Island we found an “orchid trail” with different varieties of orchids.  I wish I could have spent a few hours with my macro lens and the flowers, but we didn’t have time for that!
