I’ve stated numerous times that Billetproof is my favorite car show of the year…and it still is. However, Billetproof Hot Rod Eruption Drag Races are probably my favorite car-related event in the history of ever. 😉 It’s held at Riverdale Raceway in Toutle (yes, the same place we ride motorcross!). The track is 1/8 mile with dirt staging lanes, a dirt return road, and a generator making just enough power to run the timing equipment. It’s very rustic and perfect for an event like this! The cars themselves are traditionally styled, usually homebuilt hot rods, gassers, bikes, customs, and race cars with very few professionally built exceedingly fast cars. The handful of dragsters that showed up were balanced out by the rat rods and chopped kustom cars. We remembered to bring chairs, water, and lunch this time around and had a hell of a time wandering around the pits enjoying the cars and sitting up on the hill watching the cars go by. Needless to say, I really really really want to get my 1937 Chevy truck ready to go for next years race. So, in fairly random order, here are the pictures! 😉
I wasn’t around when drag racing was starting out and events like this were just “normal” racing. I imagine that it was something like this. Guys and gals with cars they built themselves duking it out for bragging rights and then driving back home. Either way, I miss drag racing quite a bit, so hopefully soon I can be a participant again instead of a spectator. Going to go work on my truck now! BYE!
