So I recently had an epiphany while laying underneath my 1937 Chevy project truck: I literally hate everything about doing this.  Not a fun thing to discover 7 years into a project that’s still not done.  After a little bit of soul searching I realized that while I wanted to finish the truck out of principle and stubbornness alone, I didn’t really give a single shit about it anymore.  So… like everything else I tire of, it went onto craigslist just to see what would happen. It didn’t take very long until I had a trade offer for it, so I took it! 😮

Welcome to my life, 2004 Subaru WRX!

It had a brand new engine and a few mods, but was otherwise kind of dingy looking with 180k miles. But you know what? it runs and drives and should be pretty darn fun! I didn’t waste a lot of time before giving it a full detailing, paint buffing, etc. She doesn’t look too bad now!

I wasn’t kidding about the paint buffing.. I was in the garage for hours with power tools, buffing pads, and swirl remover to bring the shine back to the black paint.

Starting to look like something!

The interior isn’t toooo busted, but the front seats aren’t attractive. Red and black seat covers are on the way!

Gross.

Next on the list? Headlights… they were almost yellow due to being old and gross. So I bought the cheapest replacement ones on amazon that I could find. They’re black with hokey LED strips, but they look pretty cool!

So fancy!

I still have a cracked rear taillight that needs to be replaced, but the lighting is now good to go!

We took the car in to get it aligned and were informed that it had a bent control arm.. Which is almost impressive that some previous owner managed that! So we swapped out all the rear control arms and lateral links with new aftermarket adjustable ones. The entire kit with new bushings was cheaper than just the single replacement from Subaru. Figures.  It was also probably the biggest pain in the ass thing I’ve ever done on a car, but we managed it eventually. we also noticed that the stock wheels had been curbed allllll the way around (again, I’m almost impressed at this person’s lack of driving skill) and one wheel was also cracked really badly.  Couple that with the fact that none of the 4 tires matched, and that means that I’m putting new wheels and tires on this thing!

What’s this?

She doesn’t look half bad with the new headlights and wheels! I didn’t get pictures yet, but I peeled the Cobb stickers off and ordered the key to remove the roof rack.  The ole girl looks almost sleek now!

I even managed a little photoshoot with the car, but it was unfortunately, before I got the new wheels. Debbie is definitely prettier than the car is!
