One of the downsides of being on a giant cruise ship that’ll do 20 knots without any trouble is that most of the time we did our traveling at night.  Which means that we were going to leave Ketchikan and would be going by the Discovery Islands and through the tight spots of the inside passage after dark.  That looked really interesting and is a place we were considering bringing our own boat back to eventually.  We stayed up a few hours later than usual and watched the sun set over the mountains and a pod of at least 10 humpback whales surfacing all around the boat. Not gonna lie, it was pretty magical. 😉
