I woke up that morning to a feast!
Finally mastered the french press coffee while camping. Not a surprise to anyone who’s seen me before my coffee, but I’m fairly useless and grumpy without it. Camping necessity! We lounged around and slowly put all our gear away and then headed over to the little trail at the edge of the campground.
Really a lot nicer of a trail than I was expecting right off a campground, but I suppose being right in the middle of the Cascades makes it pretty hard to screw up. Really fantastic way to start the morning. There were even waterfalls!
We hit the road shortly thereafter since we really only had a few more hours of driving before getting back home and making sure our kittens survived our absense. (cliffnotes: they did!).
We took the highway straight across almost to Anacortes and then headed south down Whidby Island to take the ferry to Port Townsend instead of trying to take I5 through Seattle the sunday after a big holiday. Note to self: ferries are popular up here. Make a freaking reservation next time!!!! Either way, we lucked out and got on the next boat. It was a great trip! Can’t wait to get back out there and explore some more of this fabulous state! 🙂
