We didn’t JUST go to the Cup Noodle museum on our day off. I’ve always wanted to go to Kamakura and see the giant Buddha and all the temples etc, but it’s apparently a lot of walking and I just wasn’t feeling it. So instead of that, we got off the train in Ofuna to see what was advertised as a “giant white Buddha.” Sold. Sounds good to me. This isn’t part of the main series of touristy temples and felt more like a church. Neat to see it, but I felt a bit like I shouldn’t even be taking pictures. Also, it’s not a Buddha at all, *SHE* is a Kannon, “the goddess of mercy of the white robe.” The Wikipedia link above has a lot more information. I should probably learn some more about Buddhism. Either way, I bet this place is gorgeous when all the plants are blooming, and it fulfills my next photo challenge topic!
