The cruiser it at Hog Cay is covered in little signs and art that people make for their boat and hang as proof that they made it down this far. I made a really fancy mobile out of foam fishing floats for True North but didn’t end up being able to hang it. (It’s in our laundry room in Arkansas) I had plans to make something extra special for Onward, but…I procrastinated and didn’t actually do anything. What I did do, however, was make a hammock. Remember that giant mess of net that I pulled off the beach in the Abacos when we first got to the Bahamas? Well it’s been taking up most of the space in one of our storage lockers and I finally decided it was time to do something about that. I also found 2 nice wooden broom handles and some small rope, so I was in business!

Net folded over in half and laid out on a rock on the beach
I threaded the rods through the net and lashed the net on with the rope.

We had to go on an entire second hike to find the right rope to tie the ends and hang the hammock. But mission accomplished and now it’s done! We scoured the area next to the cruiser hut and by our anchorage but there weren’t large enough trees or anything to tie the hammock to. So we went on a THIRD hike back across the island to some big palm trees that Jason had seen a few days ago. They were perfect but we had to spend a while clearing out the palm fronds and foliage from between the trees. Eventually we got it hung! The perfect beach hangout spot!

Ta da!
Look mom, I finished a project! Lol
Carved Onward into a little float so everyone knows who did it!

The palm trees are a little out of place on this island but apparently people (cruisers maybe?) are trying to get more palm trees to grow. So they plant them and presumably water them occasionally but they have to protect them from the goats roaming the island.

Good luck baby coconuts
So small but they’re looking good!
Nice sunset for a successful day!
