This boat started with a very sad tiny house battery bank so one of the main upgrades on our list for her was a lithium battery upgrade. We chose the same 200amp hour Victron batteries we’ve used previously because they’re so compact and convenient.

This battery box in the bilge is our only location available
400 amp hours of battery fits pretty nice
We debated adding a third battery but we put the engine start battery in there instead.

Once we decided what we were going to do, installing and hooking up the batteries was pretty easy! We reconfigured the AC shore power and added a new main shore breaker and routed it through our new Multiplus charger/inverter.

It was hard to find room for this giant blue box

Victim makes a new smart BMS that accounts for the non-lithium smart battery. That slightly smaller blue box made our wiring a little easier and installed next to the inverter.

We added a bunch of fuses, wiring, and disconnect switches to make this a safe install.  It was hard getting everything in the limited storage areas in the boat in a clean fashion but I think we did pretty well!

Just a few more big battery cables than there were before

For some reason the power panels on boats are always a rats nest disaster. I spent some time cleaning up ours and routing the wires in bundles to their destination.

Aside from having some weird stuff going on in places, this boat hasn’t had many modifications done so figuring out where everything goes wasn’t too difficult. Overall I say the lithium upgrade went pretty well! Time will tell if only having 2 batteries with a total of 400 amp hours will be sufficient or not.
