Multiple adventures in this region have been along the Au Sable river and every time we marvel at how clear the water is!  Turns out there’s yet another canoe rental place that can shuttle our boat for us, so that’s just what we did!

I think a lot of these are leftover from logging back in the day!

happy paddlers!

This river was a delight to paddle.  The upper section was super quiet and serene and we just let the current take us along for the most part while we looked at the scenery and birds.  (no one feeds the ducks… lol). We did catch a herd of rental boats but our canoe is faster (and we’re not drunk…) so they were quickly disposed of and we carried on with our paddle in peace! We’ve realized that what we can do from now on is to launch ourselves and our boat early in the morning before the rentals start running and then just catch a ride on the shuttle at the outfitters when we’re *done* with our paddle and have them take us back to our truck! We will try that next time.

Overall this was an amazing trip!  We saw so many different things and explored so many different areas.  Michigan was amazing and now I understand why all of our friends who are from here are obsessed with it.  We will be back again someday for sure!
