This entire trip started because we didn’t need anything for Christmas.  Jason’s mom decided that instead of buying us some random crap we didn’t need, she would get us a stay in an Airbnb somewhere cool as a surprise! (awesome idea BTW) She picked Fruita, CO because of all the mountain biking.  Once the date arrived, we loaded up all of our stuff and headed out!

We stopped by the Royal Gorge along the way.  Jason had seen it once and I’d never been! The gorge itself and the huge bridge is a bit of a tourist destination, so we didn’t actually go do that, but we drove out to an overlook and hiked down for a view.  There were mountain bike trails at the top, so we’re going to file away that information for a later road trip!

We headed up into the mountains and eventually ran into some snow and ice still hanging around! It might be summer in Arkansas now, but it’s still early spring in Colorado!

The Airbnb where we would be staying for a few days was awesome! The design was ultra modern and just super cool.  It was small (meant for only two people I’m sure) but had a large carport in the back and a garage for the bicycles.  We could also easily walk downtown! Thanks Vicky!:)
