When we had our house in Washington we waited until the last few years we were there to plant trees.  I really enjoyed having them and was pretty sad when we sold the house and I didn’t get to see them turn into big awesome looking trees. So now that we have our new house I’m going to plant as many trees as our septic drain field will allow so in a few years they’ll be large and pretty and I’ll get to actually enjoy them! Due to aforementioned septic drain field we can really only plant large trees in our front yard.  (sad) I settled on two large crepe myrtle trees that should have pretty pink blooms!

Jason helped them unload the large trees with our tiny tractor. This thing is handy!
Ready to go

Fast forward a few hours.  The company will install the trees for free if you spend over a certain amount, which is great! We expected the guys to come with equipment to easily dig the huge holes because this area is known for being mostly huge rocks… unfortunately they showed up with picks and shovels and just went to town on it.  It looked like hard work! We tipped them very appreciatively for their service cause I sure as hell am glad I didn’t have to do it!

They look nice there!
Might even someday provide some shade on the front of the house!

Hopefully they survive the winter… They’ve had a rough life so far.

Another thing we’ve been doing is using our tractor to clean up the ditch on the edge of the property. Technically the county owns it, but it’s still full of rocks and tree stumps from when they cleared the trees off of it.  It’s impossible and dangerous to mow so our goal is to smooth it out and then plant some actual grass so I can at least weed eat it.

slow going and lots of trips with the tractor to relocate the branches and rocks.
