Since we’re at a fantastic dock in Stuart in a lovely protected inlet, I wanted to go kayaking! We’ve only been twice since we got back from our road trip, which is shameful.  Caroline drove down to visit so she jumped into Jason’s boat and we paddled down through the mooring field to the little creek that empties by a small park.

Hadn’t even left the boat when a dolphin swam by!

“anchored” by shoving the nose into some mangroves. It works.
Me and my buddy!

We had a great time just tooling around and being on the water.  Then we got hungry and went for lunch!

As you may have noticed, Jason and I have *very * different styled boats.  I like mine to fit as small as possible like a glove.  I want to wear my boat more than sit in it.  It’s an Eddyline Sitka ST and at only 14′ is about the smallest you can get and have it be called a touring kayak. It looks like a fiberglass boat but isn’t because it’s lightweight ABS plastic that’s lighter and holds it shape better than the usual rotomolded plastic boats.  I LOVE IT! Jason unfortunately can’t sit down in a normal kayak after trying multiple styles of boats.  So this time around he’s hoping that the taller seat will keep his legs from falling asleep. We enjoyed our Bote inflatable paddleboards, so Jason purchased this inflatable kayak from Bote.  (Lono Aero Bugslinger)  It has a pedal drive as well, so he can keep his legs moving.  We’ve only had it out a few times so the verdict is still out on whether or not this will work for him.  The only downside is that this thing is gigantic.  It’s huge deflated in its duffel and it’s huge when inflated on the deck and it weighs roughly 80lbs so it’s a beast to move around.  I hope he uses it a lot because it’s a pain in the ass! 😉

very very different.

After Caroline went home it was really nice out so Jason and I went out for a paddle by ourselves.

selfie time again
It’s me!
The coconut harvest was plentiful today!

We’re hoping to be able to paddle a lot while we’re in the Bahamas since I whined about not having a kayak every single time we went out on the paddleboards or didn’t go out on the paddleboards due to non-ideal conditions.  Since I sold my mountain bike I’m really hoping that kayaking turns into my new favorite hobby! 🙂
