We’ve been chasing weird electrical stuff for a few weeks now. Most importantly our solar theoretically should be putting out close to 100 amps but was only putting out 25. We narrowed it down to the main cables being corroded and not allowing charge to pass through. We already replaced some of the cables and the battery switch, so this time we tackled the main run from the solar charge controllers to the batteries and another one of the main ground cables.
After this set of modifications were now getting 50 amps! Effectively doubling our solar output! We’re still a little low, but we’re not going to replace any more cables until next season. As it is our batteries are fully charged before lunchtime!
Another thing I tackled was to finish up modifying the water lines to hook up our transom wash down connection. All we have to do is pop the little cover off of the back and hook up a hose to flush the dinghy outboard or wash fish guts off of the back!
While I was in there I hung some hooks so I could organize the shore power cables and mounted the scuba tank holder so it doesn’t roll around in the lazarette!
I started cleaning out the aft cabin because eventually we’re going to have people come visit us! A lot of the stuff on the bed will eventually go into the lazarette. The entire closet it full of Jason’s fishing stuff so I made him organize that a little better. One thing taking up a ton of space was the big 10# fire extinguisher I bought that was still in the box. I finally found an acceptable place to mount the extinguisher and freed up some more space!
I know it looks like a lot of fire extinguishers but after having the fire in our last boat jason and I are both a little twitchy about it! I’d rather have too many than not enough!
