Jason and I were at the boat until 8 tonight finishing up projects and prepping the boat to go in the water tomorrow to get the mast put in! It was a VERY busy day!

I started by finishing up what I was doing with the potable water manifolds.  I decided to replace the cold water line going to the forward head and zip tie everything up nicely out of the way.

All done in here finally!
Got the summer and winter homes lined up!

When we pulled the mast out of the boat a while ago I noticed that the little aluminum coaming piece that bolts to the deck was corroded and gross.  We had the yard blast and paint it before we put the mast back in.  The color doesn’t really match at all, but it will be mostly covered by a boot and tape anyway.  Either way, that’s the last piece we needed to be able to reinstall the mast!

Hanging out to dry a little longer
It’s a little yellow, but it’s done and bolted down!

While Jason was outside in the heat working on the mast piece, I was working on wiring up our new fans.  I already installed the new lights but unfortunately, the fans are tied into the same power source and since I reused the existing fan wiring, I had to redo a lot of work.  Irritating, but it’s the right thing to do. The new fans are worth it! They’re WAY more powerful than our old fans, quieter, and draw less than half an amp at full power!

galley fan!

I only managed to get 2 fans installed, but I DID finish up the 2 new overhead round lights.  I was really surprised how hard it was to find an LED round light that was roughly 7″ diameter. Turns out they’re either all 4″ or 12″… Eventually I did find these.  The one over the navigation table also has a red LED feature for extra night vision!  I also ordered replacement LED bulbs for the existing round lights that I didn’t replace (some were damaged, some weren’t..).  They’re way brighter than the old style LED conversion bulbs I pulled out.  Overall I’m really happy with how our lighting upgrade is turning out!

The galley is now nice and bright!
The rust explains why this light wouldn’t even turn on…
A glowing example of the previous owner’s wiring skills…
Nice and bright!
Final product (starboard side…)

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day with the mast going back in.  Hopefully it will also be pleasantly boring with nothing amiss and nothing bad happening! Wish us luck! 🙂
