Located just outside the town of Carcross is the Carcross Desert.  Technically, it’s not a desert, however it’s located in the rain shadow of the nearby mountains, so with the minimal rain and quantity of sand, it’s still called a desert!  Jason and I hiked through the sand all the way to the top of the hill.  I had a blast shooting the dunes even though I filled my shoes full of sand.

look at that colorful water! I want to swim in the lake!
So much yellow along the road
Not bright sun, but the clouds were interesting.
Welcome to the desert
I love mountains

Sun breaking through

My favorite shot. I like the shapes made by the sand.

On the way back down to the parking lot we watched a little Chevy Aveo drive out into the sand and promptly get stuck.  The guy was going up and down a little hill with no real progress and started to slowly sink in as his tires spun in the sand.  Jason goes over and explains to the guy how to drive in sand (hammer down!) and helps him get out.  There’s our good deed for the day.
