The weather down in Florida was already guaranteed to be better than it is up here in Washington state, however this time it happened to be unseasonably warm with temperatures up in the 80’s!  That meant that Caroline and I headed down to the beach not once, but twice! I didn’t take very many photos at the beach because cameras and saltwater and sand are pretty much mortal enemies.  We had a great time hiding from the sun underneath the big sun shade, eating Publix sub sandwiches, and watching the waves.  I did dig my camera out a little bit to take some pictures of the Man-o-war jellyfish that washed up on the beach. If you’re not aware, these things are extremely painful.  I didn’t want to go back in the water after we noticed them!

They were little, maybe only 6″ long.
Pretty colors though
Yep, just don’t touch it!

I mentioned earlier that Caroline got a new dog.  He’s a red tick coon hound named Copper.  He’s also obnoxiously hard to get photos of, but that didn’t stop me from trying!

He has pretty eyes

He loves the park so so so much.

People always associate Florida with white sand beaches and palm trees, which is accurate for the first few miles away from the water, however further inland the landscape changes.  There are pine trees, scrub brush, grasses and wildflowers here too.

Not what you’d think of initially
A little pond
The lake. Definitely gators in here somewhere.
Sunlight through a pine tree.
They even have ferns, even thought I get more than enough of those in Washington!
Tiny snail in the grass

Caroline and I spent the weekend at her parents’ house in Fort Pierce.  It was built sometime in the early 1900’s and has two gigantic oak trees in the front yard. I took some photos of it back in college, so it was kind of neat to come back and shoot the same place 10 years later! 😮

Front door
Blue
I wasn’t kidding about the big trees!
