We visited many amazing places on this trip from quaint Victorian towns to bustling ports to uninhabited islands.  We would have never been able to get to most of those without a boat, so I figure I should tell you a little bit about her! Her name is Salacia.  In mythology, she’s Neptune’s wife.  I suppose I should have researched a little more to see if Neptune actually LIKED his wife or if he tragically killed her off somehow… Seeing as we’ve already had an engine room fire, I fear the worst.  Either way, she’s a 1972 Grand Banks Alaskan 49′. And for better or worse she’s made of wood.  Fun fact: if you’re considering a wood boat, they’re beautiful, but they’re a bit of a full time hobby keeping them in paint and varnish. However we wouldn’t have been able to afford a boat like this in a fiberglass model, so wood hull it is!

Jason and I took the dinghy out for a sunset runabout and I got some pictures of her in gorgeous golden light.

Floorplan if you’re curious!
