Poas is an active volcano located close enough to San Jose to be included in our day trip bus tour!  After spending so much time in Oregon and Washington, I LOVE volcanoes and the geology behind them.  We were apparently super lucky that we were able to see the crater since the volcano is usually covered in clouds.  I love the bright teal color of the water.

It was a fairly popular hike up a gravel road to the crater.

Another short hike brought us up a little further to a small lake created by an old crater. Nifty!
