As much fun as I’ve been having diving Puget Sound, there’s no getting around the fact that the water is 50 degrees and fairly unpleasant. It was about time for Jason and I to take our diving somewhere warm and tropical! Now, Jason used to dive all the time in Florida, but aside from one “intro to scuba” beach dive in Guam, I’ve never been in warm water. We did manage to get all of our clothing and scuba crap into one piece of checked luggage per person and then we were on our way to the island of Roatan in Honduras. We chose to stay in the Coco View Resort. This is probably mostly because Jason has a coworker who just returned from there and it sounded awesome. Sounds good to me! They’re an all inclusive that features unlimited shore diving and two boat dives a day. That’s going to be more diving in a week than I have logged in total. Excellent!
I feel like I should explain this last shot a bit. We have this awesome Mexican blanket on the bed in our room and I was taking a photo of it and wondered what would happen if I used a slow shutter speed to blur the lines. It ended up looking like a sunset over the ocean, which I thought was pretty neat!
So yeah, Roatan is awesome. The resort is surrounded by lush tropical reefs that are easy to get to (and snorkel too, if you’re into that sort of thing). I had never dove off of a boat before, but they made that super easy as well! Aside from being exhausted from all the diving, I’m having a BLAST! 🙂
