A brief google search revealed that the rock walls of Moab were full of ancient petroglyphs.  Well, you can’t drive this far and not check that out!  The history is fascinating.  I wish we knew what they all meant. Were they just a record of who was there and what animals they killed? or is there a deeper meaning? Either way, I could have stared at them for hours. It’s amazing that things this old are still around at all, let alone an easy hike from the road.

Some of them almost look like aliens, don’t they? …and I wonder what those big centipedes are all about.  A short car ride down the same little road is a sign for “dinosaur tracks“.  Just when I thought you wouldn’t find anything older than petroglyphs, there’s a freaking rock with dino footprints in it just laying where it must have fallen years ago on the side of a hill.

Yep, just hanging out there on the side of the hill..

After seeing all that stuff, it seems pretty lame to include some photos of our walk around Main Street in Moab hunting souvenirs, but here they are anyway. 😉

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that the old “graffiti” looked like aliens.

I wonder if the tribal elders got mad at whoever did the petroglyphs? Like they would at kids today?
