Unfortunately, our house only has a small 2 car garage.  We tried to help the situation already by adding a gravel parking pad on the left side of the driveway.  This helped a ton, but now we noticed that when we have more than our 2 cars there’s always someone trying to get out of the passenger side right at the edge of our driveway that slopes steep downhill.  And since that person is my mother, this was a situation that needed attention! Jason and I headed to the store to get some small gravel, paving stones, and edging. It took maybe 4 hours in total to do, most of that was ripping out the grass and carting it away in the summer heat.

Here we go!
My rock hammer actually makes quick work of ripping out grass. It was pretty straightforward to dig it down and use the shovel to cart it all away.
We ran a plastic border to keep the gravel in place and them filled it to 2″ below grade and tamped the gravel down.
With the surface already flat and prepped, the stones themselves went down quickly.  We filled the gaps with concrete sand that we had leftover from our patio project.
done!
Have to wet the sand so that it sets and hardens.
The next morning!
I think we did pretty excellent work! 🙂

Hopefully this will keep people from plummeting down the hill!  Not bad for a single day’s work! I just need to plant something alongside it for erosion purposes and we’re done!
