Our anchorage at south Hawksbill was amazing but a little sketchy because of how shallow the sandbars were and how little swing room we had. If the anchor drug we would pretty much immediately be up on the sand. Since we need high tide to be able to leave we left right after coffee in the morning and followed Sorn out! After a short sail we anchored up at the North end of Hawksbill Cay. A brief dinghy ride brought us (and Chris) to the beach for some hiking! The trail crosses over the island and we had a nice walk along the shoreline.

Have I mentioned how incredible the water is here?
It’s reassuring that a mooring ball broke off and floated away. This is why we anchor!

For some reason this beach was a treasure trove of usable stuff. Chris grabbed a chunk of net to make hammocks on his boat. I found a perfectly usable hat, a thick piece of cutting board material, 2 cups, and a float! The harvest was successful! lol

I needed a new hat anyway!

The trail actually splits so when we returned from the beach we took the other trail up to the hill to see the ruins!

They would break down the conch shells to make mortar for the walls
Giant hole

I always find ruins fascinating. I can’t imagine how hard it would be to build something here in the rocky terrain and then have to survive in it.
