Long Island lives up to its name by being super duper long. So in order to explore it properly we decided to rent a car and drive around to see more places than just our dinghy would allow. Our first stop was the northern end of the island at the Christopher Columbus monument. It’s one of many “this was his first stop!” type monuments in the Bahamas.

This was practically new our first year here!

The bay we would like to anchor in but don’t think we can quite make it

After the Columbus monument we drove south to the Adderly plantation ruins.  Our first year this was a pretty nice trail but it’s obvious now that no one maintains it and very few people visit it because it was so overgrown we almost gave up!

The “dock”

Our next stop was some well deserved lunch at the marina! I didn’t get any photos of the food (which was excellent) because by the time we got our food we were starving!

Beautiful view from the marina. They have a pool!

After lunch we headed even further south to Deans blue hole which is a stupid deep blue hole right off of the beach. They hold professional freediving competitions there! The water wasn’t super clear so I didn’t get many photos of it underwater this time.

We spent all day out in the car but finally made our way back to the dinghies!

The dinghy dock

From Thompson Bay we moved slightly north to Calabash Bay at the northern end of Long Island to stage to head back to the Exumas. This spot had a lot of wave action so I’m not sure we will be back here except to stage for other places but the water was still gorgeous.

Sun rainbow!
Beautiful clear water

The coolest thing we saw here was another Feeling 39 just like our boat! They’re very rare in the US so I never expected to see another but we pulled in right next to them! We made some friends and got a boat tour so we could see how they did some things on their boat so we could install them on ours!

Good luck friends! Enjoy Panama!
