We lose track of time easily on the boat since we have nothing going on and nowhere to be. It was especially bad after spending 4 days at sea before rolling into the anchorage in Beaufort, NC. Turns out it’s Memorial Day weekend and we were glad to be tucked up safely in the no wake zone area of the river for all the inevitable boat traffic and shenanigans! Saturday was busy with tour boats and small personal boats cruising through but Sunday was a madhouse of people on the beach, tourists everywhere, and hundreds of boats milling about in different directions. We went into town a few times over the weekend and had a great time looking at the adorable old houses, eating at fantastic restaurants, and seeing the wild horses on the beach. This area is very different from the wild nothingness of the Bahamas and the tropical shenanigans of Florida. I really enjoyed the laid back, quaint atmosphere.
